What is Shoegaze?
Imagine a wall of sound washing over you like a wave. That's the shoegaze experience.
Shoegaze is rock music known for its ability to engulf listeners in waves of sound, emotion, and atmosphere with big, fuzzy guitar sounds and dreamy vocals. Born out of the late 1980s and early 1990s, it is a genre that still resonates deeply with alternative and indie music lovers. Shoegaze got its funny name because the musicians often look down at their feet while playing, busy monitoring and stepping on guitar pedals to create all those cool sounds and effects. It's music that can be soft and loud simultaneously, with layers of guitar that swirl around you like an emotional sonic hug, then pierce you with a cutting melody, or push against you with a wall of sound.
Shoegaze is now more popular than ever, with bands like PROCEDURE carrying the torch forward, making shoegaze music and mixing the classic sound with other styles. PROCEDURE's shoegaze originals reflect influences from classic rock, jazz, punk, post-punk, and grunge.
